- Chip Arnold Biography
A little more about the artist...
It’s hard for an artist to “break through” and become the source for a commodity which people want to spend their money on. Chip Arnold knows exactly what that can be like. Coming from a generational family of artists (his grandfather, his father, and his own daughter in art school.) Talent isn’t always enough, drive isn’t always enough, and discipline isn’t always enough.
Whatever the secret may be, Chip has discovered it. The clean, simple lines inspired by Danish influences as well as Art Nouveau has taken his jewelry and special pieces to the World Gold Council Show as well as to the White House. He has a successful business in crafting and marketing his exquisite jewelry pieces. Chip does what few artists manage to do – make a successful career from his art; success has its own price.
Since he was about fifteen years old, Chip was fascinated by stone cutting. A rock shop around the corner from where he grew up was a constant draw for his attention and talent. Stone cutting became a hobby, but he soon found that he needed to create settings for his stones. This led him to the path he chose to follow.
Chip’s passion, inspiration, and skill in producing and marketing his art has an unfortunate product; in having such a popular demand for his jewelry, he has little time to explore new venues and inspirations. Chip has recently begun to create gold and silver combination pieces, but he would like to challenge himself in slightly different venues as well. Chip confessed he’s intrigued with the idea of taking his simple and clean style into the realm of sculpture, but with his rings to create and deliver, he has little time to act upon new interests and pieces outside of jewelry.
Chip believes that perhaps after his daughters are out of college, he may then have the time for more self-indulgent pursuits; custom made pieces, delving into the realm of sculpture, any thing new and exciting that would pique his interest and talent.
