A little more about the artist...

Although most of Diane’s formal education is in writing, Diane is also an accomplished weaver and fiber sculptor. Having heard of a rather obscure 16th century craft called “marbling”, Diane jumped into the new project with fervor. She found that she could capture the magic she’d seen in the classically delicate designs of antique books and began amassing her own designs.

Diane was invited to demonstrate the techniques she had mastered in various workshops, including the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian Institute. As her art became more widely known, she found her designs featured on perfume bottles, brochures, stationary, and book covers. An art agent contacted her and after signing on as her agent, Diane found herself designing marbled china pattern for Lenox China and box and wrapping paper for Godiva Chocolates.

Diane found that her writing skills were needed as she produced numerous books on the topic. The last few years find the focus of her work and inspiration on creating collages, landscapes and seascapes as favorite subjects.

“I do support myself financially with my art, but constantly switch hats…designing, writing, teaching, lecturing, selling my art at wholesale and retail. I love the variety and the opportunity to meet new people.”
